Exercise on compound and non-compound verbs and the differences in their meanings.
            Match the contexts with the compound or simple verb. Explain the appropriateness of your choice.
Examples:
      A.  पहुँचो - पहुँच जाओ
            a.  अगर तुम्हें शहर की रौनक देखनी है तो रात के नौ बजे तक दिल्ली ________ !     [jatdevta.blogspot.com]
            b.  मज़दूरों ! किसानों! छात्रों! दिल्ली _________ !
      Aa:  पहुँच जाओ:  The time phrase रात के नौ बजे तक focuses attention on the completion of the act of arrival as a precondition for the seeing the liveliness of the capital.   See ex. (5) in Notes.
      Ab:  The non-compound form पहुँचो is more appropriate for shouted slogans when the speaker is only interested in the result - having a crowd of protesters in Delhi.   See discussion of विक्रांत कमरे में आया versus विक्रांत कमरे में आ गया in Notes.
      B.  बरसता है - बरस जाता है
            a. हर साल बरसात के दिनों में तो यहाँ पानी ______, सर्दियों में नहीं |
            b. बादल को बरसना है तो बादल _______ |     [एक अंजुरी भर रस, p. 73 ]
      Ba:  Use the non-compound  बरसता है when the focus is on something other than the action denoted by the verb. Here focus is on the quantity of rain and its schedule.
      Bb:  Use the compound  बरस जाता है when the action denoted by the verb is expected. Here that expectation is set up by the phrase बरसना है in the preceding clause.
     1.   बैठिये - बैठ जाइए
            a. चाचाजी ! ज़रा _______ !         हमें स्क्रीन दिखाई नहीं दे रहा !
            b.  ________,  चाचाजी.  मैं बाबूजी को अभी बुलाती हूँ |
      2.  की - कर ली
             a. 1492 में कोलंबस ने अमेरिका की खोज ______ |     [www.ishafoundation.org]
             b. लीफ़ एरिक्सन ने कोलंबस से 500 साल पहले ही अमरीका की खोज _______ |
      3.  करते - कर लेते
            a. मोटर एंड आटो मोबाइल्स का काम करने के अलावा कभी-कभार प्रोपर्टी का काम भी _______ थे |   [delhidse.blogspot.com]
            b. [कबीर] काम भी ______ थे और कविता भी।   [www.deshkaal.com]
      4.  पहुँचेंगे - पहुँच जाएँगे
            a.   मेहमानों को दो बजे का बुलावा है, इसलिए ज़्यादातर मेहमान ढाई बजे या उसके बाद ही ________ |     [amstelganga.org]
            b.   वह सवेरे सात या ज्‍यादा-से-ज्‍यादा आठ बजते-बजते यहाँ _________।     [www.hindisamay.com/]
      5.  खोला - खोल दिया
            a.  जब उसने वॉशरूम से बाहर निकलने के लिए दरवाज़ा ____________ तो वो नहीं खुला।     [samajikkhabrein.org]
            b.   जब प्रवीण और नेहा उसके यहाँ तक पहुँचे, नॉक करने से पहले ही रूपचंद ने दरवाज़ा ______________ |
      6.  पहुँचा - पहुँच गया

      7.  गिरी - गिर गई
